Transforming a Run-Down Grave into a Beautiful Memorial
This project in Fethard, County Tipperary, involved a full restoration of an old, weathered grave that had lost much of its original character.
The headstone was heavily discoloured and covered in years of buildup, hiding its original craftsmanship. Our team at Tayens Memorials carefully sandblasted the headstone to remove surface staining and restore the clean, natural tone of the stone beneath.
Once the headstone was renewed, we installed new Irish limestone kerbing, giving the grave a crisp and durable border that complements the stone’s colour perfectly. To finish, we added a combination of white marble and black granite pebbles, creating a striking contrast that gives the entire plot a dignified, polished look.
The before-and-after transformation speaks for itself — a once-neglected grave brought back to life through skilled craftsmanship and careful material choice.
